Writers' Workshop 

    We devote a period to writing

everyday.  We focus on 3 genres:

Personal Narrative, Persuasive and

Expository. 

 

      First Quarter: Personal Narrative

      Second Quarter: Persuasive

      Third Quarter: Expository

       Fourth Quarter: Teacher's Choice

                                     This is the Writing Rubric for second grade:

1 - poor         2 - needs improvement           3 - good              4 - superior

Focus: Do you have an introduction and conclusion that restates the purpose?

Support: Did you add details to your sentences?

Organization: Do you have more than one paragraph?

Integration: This shows the writing as a whole ( Record the average of the focus,

support and organization and multiply by two).

Conventions: Did you use proper punctuation and capitalization?

This is a very interesting website. Write something in the language of your choice in
 
"Enter Text".  Then click  "Say it". The man or woman in the picture will read very
 
clearly whatever you write.  You can choose the voice of different people and different
 
kinds of sound effect.  When you move the cursor around the head of the person in the
 
picture, this person's head and eyes will move around to follow your cursor.  This may
 
be fun and a good practice for children who are learning English or a foreign language.
